(Quelle: Die FilmagentInnen)

Fast-paced, witty, seductive in a flawless way, and shot in poignant black-and-white imagery, Noah Baumbach's (GREENBERG, THE INK FISH AND THE WHALE) film FRANCES HA is modern-day MANHATTAN. But Manhattan is now in Brooklyn, and that's where we meet Frances. Frances is played by the enchanting Greta Gerwig (TO ROME WITH LOVE), who stumbles through contemporary New York in search of happiness. Like many of her generation of almost-adults, she wants to try everything, but achieves very little. Her greatest achievement is her friendship with the surly and sharp-tongued Sophie, with whom she spends her days in New York, "like a lesbian couple who have stopped having sex." A budding romance with one of her friends ends in Nowhere. A captivatingly accurate and funny film that portrays its main character openly and generously. Despite her craziness, one falls in love with Frances. (Source: Die FilmagentInnen, translated using DeepL)
